Domaine Roulot
A renowned domaine with its origins in the early 20th century. It was originally founded by Jean Roulot, but it was his son, Guy Roulot, who brought international acclaim to the estate with his refined, terroir-driven style. Today, the domaine is led by the talented Jean-Marc Roulot, a man who proudly continues the family tradition. The Meursaults offer a complex tasting experience with aromas of citrus, white flowers, and an underlying mineral edge. Refined and of unmatched elegance, they serve as a benchmark for many winemakers in the appellation.
Domaine Roulot owns around 10 hectares of vineyards spread across some of the most sought-after plots in Meursault, including holdings in Perrières, Genevrières, and the iconic Premier Cru vineyard Meursault Charmes. These vineyards are ideally situated on limestone-rich soils, which impart exceptional minerality and finesse to the wines.
The viticultural practices at Domaine Roulot are of the highest standard and carefully adapted to the terroir. The vines are pruned by hand and meticulously managed to ensure low yields and concentrated flavors. Harvesting is carried out entirely by hand, with particular attention given to the fermentation process. The wines undergo a slow fermentation using natural yeasts to achieve the purest expression of Chardonnay. After fermentation, they are aged on their lees in oak barrels, with minimal intervention.
Jean-Marc continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in viticulture, with a strong focus on biodiversity in his vineyards and the preservation of the natural environment. Through his precision and craftsmanship, Roulot has become one of the most respected names in Burgundy.
