Vincent Dancer

Vincent Dancer is counted among the Côte de Beaune’s most innovative winemakers. He settled in Chassagne-Montrachet in the 1990s and founded his own estate in 1996. With only just over six hectares spread across appellations such as Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, Pommard and Beaune, it is a small but highly respected domaine.

Since its inception, Dancer took a radical approach: purity and terroir expression above all else. In 2012, the domaine was officially certified organic, and now uses many biodynamic principles. The vineyards are worked and harvested entirely by hand, with extremely low yields to achieve maximum concentration.

In the cellar, a minimalist style prevails. Fermentation is with indigenous yeasts, without clarification or filtering, and the wines undergo a long ageing process. New wood is almost entirely replaced by larger, neutral barrels, so that the purity and tension of the Chardonnay are fully preserved. The wines are not stirred and mature for a long time sur lie, developing distinctive texture and depth.

Dancer’s style is modern and uncompromising, and the wines have unprecedented precision and freshness. His white wines are among the region’s most refined and mineral, with remarkable tension and layering. The reds are rare, but show a similar degree of elegance and purity.
