Caroline Morey

Caroline Morey has a relatively young domaine, but is built on a deep Burgundian tradition. Caroline Morey is the daughter of Jean-Marc Morey and active since the early 2010s, when she decided to go her own way. With experience gained at the family estate as well as with her husband Alexandre Morey, she developed a clear, individual style that is now widely recognised.

The domaine covers about 6 hectares, mainly located in Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet. The focus is on Chardonnay, complemented by a few parcels of Pinot Noir. Morey has vineyards in several appellations, also with old vines that give natural concentration and tension.

In the vineyard, Morey works with great precision and respect for nature. The vines are managed sustainably, yields kept low and all grapes harvested by hand. The emphasis is on ripe, healthy grapes and a pure reflection of soil and location. Intervention happens only when it is really necessary.

In the cellar, the same austere philosophy follows. Gentle pressing, fermentation with indigenous yeasts and a very restrained use of new wood. Maturation takes place in oak barrels, with freshness, tension and texture being key. Vinification aims not to shape the wine, but to let it emerge.

Caroline Morey’s wines are characterised by clarity and precision. The white wines are tight, mineral and layered, with fresh acids and a clear terroir expression. The red wines are refined, light-footed and transparent, with pure fruit and elegant structure. These are wines built not on power, but on balance and length.
