Les Horées

Domaine Les Horées is a young and promising winery in Burgundy. It was founded by German Catharina Sadde. She followed her passion for wine after several experiences in the region, and decided to set up her own domaine. Catharina has worked at some of the most prestigious domaines in Burgundy, including Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, de Vogüé and d’Angerville. here she further developed her knowledge of biodynamic viticulture. The domaine itself was established in 2019 and is located in Pommard, with vineyards spread across several appellations such as Volnay and Beaune.

Les Horées’ vineyards cover 1.3 hectares. Most of the plots are farmed biodynamically. The domaine’s approach is minimalist, with respect for the terroir at its core. The grapes are harvested manually. Vinification is done with little intervention to bring out the pure expression of the grapes. Sadde favours the use of natural yeasts and minimises the use of sulphites.

Les Horées can be described as elegant and energetic, with a great balance between structure and freshness. The wines are already starting to make a name for themselves and are praised for their personality, energy and balance. Les Horées combines the knowledge of traditional winemaking with a fresh, modern approach. This results in wines that capture the essence of Burgundy. And that name? That comes from Greek mythology. Sadde describes Les Horées as marking the changing of the seasons.
